AIDA: The robot understands that the driver
Imagine an engineer who once placed in the control panel of the vehicle, capable of communicating with the driver to capture their emotions, "reading" their facial expressions and respond "appropriately and socially informativament": guiding it up at home, via the nearest gas station if he realizes that lack fuel or suggested to go to a store or restaurant if it detects that the user is hungry.
Scientists at MIT have created Aida (in English, affective agent driving smart).
This project has been developed in collaboration with the Volkswagen Electronics Laboratory in Palo Alto (California), where he has also collaborated on the development of navigation products similar to Google Maps 2.0.
AIDA, as well as integrate an advanced GPS system, can establish patterns of behavior according to the emotions of the driver and the information provided for this. So the driver is able to understand, memorize and journeys usually made predictivament respond when asked.
Accident risk: poor lighting and GPS
According to a study by the University of Valencia, manipulating the GPS while driving supossa:
- Reduce the view of traffic by 50%
- 75% of drivers are unaware of the risk posed to manipulate it while driving.
- The two main consequences are out of the way and the shock front.
In response, the Department of Motor Vehicles wants to play around the GPS involves a loss of three points, such as talking on a cellphone, and a fine.
According to official data, inadequate lighting:
- One in four traffic accidents happens at night and often inadequate lighting there is something to see.

Driving and talking on a cellphone
Since the entry into force of the driving points (July 1, 2006), the main reasons for the loss of points are still speeding, not wearing a seat belt buckled or not wearing a helmet after driving a moped or a motorcycle.
But, according to latest data from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), a change is occurring, then the first Spanish driver to lose more points than circular speaking by phone to do it drunk.
With data provided by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), the number of complaints to drive using the phone at the same time, now amounting to complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol.
In July, just after 3 years of the new card, the DGT gave details about: 8% of complaints were to talk by phone and 9% for alcohol. Three months later, the imprudence of using the phone has gone before, with 12.12% of 2.6 million claims. The penalties for positive tests have meant the 10.12% of the total.
Meanwhile, speeding remains a major cause of mortality on the roads.
The installation of a device "hands free" beyond help us avoid punishment, may have prevented an accident. For prevention, ease of operation and prices, it is worth thinking about purchasing a handsfree device.
